During National Community College Month this April, Mohave Community College (MCC) is delighted to underscore its critical role in promoting economic development, enhancing the job prospects of its students, and improving the quality of life in Mohave County and beyond.

A recent study by Lightcast, a global authority in economic impact and labor market analytics, celebrates MCC’s vital contributions. The research underscores how the college elevates student employability and fulfills their potential, showing that MCC and its community are integral to the regional economy, supporting one in every 29 jobs in the area.

MCC President Dr. Stacy Klippenstein remarked, “The influence of MCC reaches well outside our classrooms. We take pride in being a catalyst for positive change within Mohave County and across Arizona, dedicated to offering top-notch educational and vocational training to our students.”

The analysis illuminated how the college bolsters the local and regional economy, increasing workforce productivity. For the fiscal year 2021-22, MCC, along with its students and alumni, injected $154.9 million into Mohave County’s economy.

James Jarman, the Executive Director of College Communications, highlighted the significance of this contribution: “This figure represents about 2.4% of Mohave County’s total gross regional product. Considering the economic challenges during the pandemic, which affected enrollment, the actual economic impact is likely even greater now.”

Beyond economic stimulation, MCC profoundly benefits students, taxpayers, and society at large. The college enhances students’ potential for higher future earnings, which continue to escalate throughout their careers. Additionally, graduates tend to rely less on government services, contributing positively to the economy and societal wealth.

Dr. Klippenstein further emphasized, “Mohave Community College is a powerhouse of value, enriching not just our students but also the regional economy. Our commitment is unwavering in equipping students with the necessary tools for success and meaningful community contribution.”
